Adults typically measure 20 to 23 centimetres (8 to 9&#160;in) with a weight of 240 to 340 grams (8.5 to 12.0&#160;oz). It has a slender build with a short, bushy tail, and makes a shrill alarm call that causes all other individuals in the vicinity to dive for cover. He took the title at birth and held it until his death at age 70, making him the <a href="/wiki/List_of_longest-reigning_monarchs" title="List of longest-reigning monarchs">longest-reigning monarch</a> in Sasanian history. The son of <a href="/wiki/Hormizd_II" title="Hormizd II">Hormizd&#160;II</a>, who reigned from 302 to 309, Shapur's reign saw the military resurgence of the Sasanian Empire and the expansion of its territory. This included, at the age of 16, successful military campaigns against Arab insurrections and tribes, and later campaigns against the Roman Empire, the invasion of Armenia, and expansion into India. This photograph shows a 4th-century silver bust of the head of a Sasanian king, now in the collection of the <a href="/wiki/Metropolitan_Museum_of_Art" title="Metropolitan Museum of Art">Metropolitan Museum of Art</a> in New York City. It is a large <a href="/wiki/Flowering_plant" title="Flowering plant">flowering plant</a>, native to most of Europe, North Africa and western Asia. It is deciduous and grows to a height of up to 40&#160;m (130&#160;ft), with a single stout trunk that can exceed 10&#160;m (33&#160;ft) in girth. The fruits (<a href="/wiki/Acorn" title="Acorn">acorns</a>) are borne in clusters of two or three, on a long peduncle (stalk) that is 4 to 8&#160;cm (1.6 to 3.1&#160;in) long. Each acorn is 1.5 to 4&#160;cm (0.59 to 1.57&#160;in) long, ovoid with a pointed tip, starting whitish-green and becoming brown, then black. As with all oaks, the acorns are carried in a distinctive shallow cup. It is an "alternate bearing" species, with large crops produced every other year. It is native to the Indo-Pacific region, ranging from eastern Africa (including South Africa and Madagascar) eastwards to southern Japan and Australia, and in the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. The species has also been recorded outside its native range in the western Atlantic Ocean. It inhabits shallow, protected coastal waters, including mangroves, coral reefs, and deeper areas with silty substrates. Juveniles typically shelter among mangrove roots and in protected lagoons. The orbicular batfish has a deep, highly compressed, round body, and adults can grow to more than 40 centimetres (16&#160;in) in length. Larger individuals develop a slightly indented snout and a bony intraorbital protuberance. Adults are silvery grey in colour, with black vertical bars running through the eye and across the base of the pectoral fin. The dorsal and anal fins are yellowish with black margins. It was named by German zoologist <a href="/wiki/Alfred_Brehm" title="Alfred Brehm">Alfred Brehm</a> in 1857 for his recently deceased sister, Thekla Brehm. It is non-migratory and breeds on the Iberian Peninsula and in northern and sub-Saharan Africa, from Senegal to Somalia. Its preferred habitat is dry open country, often at some altitude. Thekla's lark is similar to the <a href="/wiki/Crested_lark" title="Crested lark">crested lark</a>, featuring a long, spiky, erectile <a href="/wiki/Crest_(feathers)" title="Crest (feathers)">crest</a>. It is a relatively small member of its family and is predominantly brownish-grey or brown in colour, with a breast streaked with black and grey underwings. It eats weeds, seeds and insects, the last being especially popular in the breeding season, and it nests on the ground, laying two to six eggs.
